The credit union foundation is “people helping people”, members are the heart of the credit union. The motto “Not for profit, not for charity, but for service” captures the essence of our credit union. No one person or organization can own a credit union, our members are our owners. You really are your own banker. In 1934 President Roosevelt signed the Federal Credit Union Act authorizing the creation of federally chartered credit unions in all states. Its purpose was to make credit available and promote thrift through a national system of nonprofit, cooperative credit unions.
