Chabot FCU was originally chartered November 23, 1962 as Chabot College Federal Credit Union. Seven instructors deposited $5.00 each to underwrite the expenses of applying for the charter. The credit union officially opened on the Chabot College campus on December 4, 1962. By December 31, 1962 we had 40 members and $2,716 in total assets. Over the years, in order to serve select employer groups (SEGs), our charter was amended by the removal of the word ‘college.’ As of December 31, 2018, Chabot FCU has over 20 SEGs, in excess of 1750 members, with total assets approaching $70 million.
