The City Credit Union was chartered in 1950. There were seven charter members and $35 in total assets. Today, the City Credit Union serves City of Tuscaloosa employee and their families. Annual membership meetings are held each February to give progress reports, elect a Board of Directors and Committee Members. All Board and Committee members are volunteers and receive no compensations for their service. The Credit Union is a not-for-profit credit cooperative.
