Did you know that your credit union began in 1931 in the drawer of one MUD employee who ran the Credit Union as a volunteer? Employees of the District saw the need to form a cooperative (an alternative to big banks who were less likely to help average hard-working American families during the Great Depression). These employees pooled their money and then began lending it back out to other employees who had a need. This is the heart of the credit union movement and it continues today! We are still YOUR credit union, dedicated to serve MUD employees and their family members. We are NOT open to the entire community which allows us to serve you and your unique needs while maintaining a family atmosphere. When you make a deposit in your credit union account, we are able to make more loans to other District employees or family members. When you open a loan with us, the interest that you pay goes back to the membership-we are able to offer new products, better technology (such as mobile banking), and lower fees.
