The Panhandle Federal Credit Union was founded in October, 1957 by a group of employees of the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe railroad. The first financial statement listed 131 members and total assets of $4,087.65. 58 years later, Panhandle Federal Credit Union has opened its field of membership to include anyone who lives, works or worships in Sumner County, Kansas; and, has grown to service 3,349 members with total assets of $52,000,000.
