The URE Federal Credit Union was established in 1936 by a handful of Union Railroad Employees who wanted to have their own financial network for themselves and their fellow employees. The original employee group was the employees of the Union Railroad Company. In 1984 the credit union was approached to merge the Westinghouse Switchgear Employees Federal Credit Union into their field of membership. The Board of Directors approved the merger, so membership opened to any employees of the Westinghouse Switchgear Division. In 1989, membership was extended to the Full-Time Employees of Kennywood Park Corporation. In 1996, we were approached by the Reese Brothers Company in Pittsburgh to offer membership to their employees. The Board of Directors in 2000 decided to change our charter to offer credit union services to ALL of the Kennywood Park Employees. We’ve been helping our members and their families build successful lives since 1936, and we’re ready to help all the generations of your family too. We understand that a little trust and willingness to give a little extra on our side can make a big difference to your life today and your family’s future tomorrow.
