The Health and Education Federal Credit Union was started in 1956 to serve the employees of Fayette County Schools. Since that time, the credit union has grown to serve many more education and health related employer groups. Today the credit union serves all county school systems surrounding the Lexington area and several colleges and universities including Georgetown College, Transylvania University, Asbury University, and Asbury Seminary. The health care related groups have expanded to include Central Baptist Hospital, Saint Joseph Hospital, Shriners Hospital, Cardinal Hill Hospital, Lexington Clinic and many more employer groups. The Credit Union has continued to expand membership to serve new groups and family members of existing members.
